Slipknot is stepping into the whiskey business. The band has teamed up with Iowa’s Cedar Ridge Distillery to launch their branded whiskeys this summer.
“The Cedar Ridge stuff is just so wonderful and beautiful, I’m proud to be able to give our fans and the rest of the world a fine quality whiskey.” says Slipknot percussionist Shawn “The Clown” Crahan
“I’m expecting the outside world to come in and love this whiskey,” he said. “That’s the hope, that the whole world loves it, but really this is for my people … When I take this out on the road, it’s just going to go.”
“Slipknot and Cedar Ridge Distillery, two groups of people born and raised in Iowa, and committed to quality and hard work. We collaborated on No. 9 Whiskey, which in addition to Iowa corn, gets some extra spice from its rye content. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Live life, and always be safe.”
Crahan also stated the band would offer signed bottles for their die hard fans. According to the website, the No. 9 Iowa Whiskey (90 proof/45% ABV) will sell for $39.99, compared to the greater strength No. 9 Reserve Iowa Whiskey (99 proof/49.5% ABV) priced at $69.99. Both are sweet and spicy due to higher corn and rye mash bills.
Coincidentally, the band’s upcoming album is scheduled for release Aug. 9.
